Marca Porter is the heart of Porter Tutoring. Nearly 35 years ago, Marca began Porter Tutoring as a private tutor, traveling to area schools during the day and meeting with more clients in the evenings. Prior to opening Porter Tutoring, Marca was a University tutor, Supervisor for UTA's tutoring program, and was Director for a national chain of tutoring programs. She loves scuba diving with her husband and preserving special memories through scrapbooking. She has a passion for education and possess an exceptional talent for discovering learning techniques to best fit each student that she contributes to God. Her favorite saying is, "Learn Something New Today!" as she believes you should learn something new every single day!
Upon entering our office, you'll likely be greeted by our friendly receptionist and scheduling coordinator, Kirsten. Kirsten is going to school to become a physical therapist. She graduated with honors from Arlington High and took many PAP and AP classes. She enjoys getting cozy in bed with her dog, Gus, a good book, and a cup of coffee. Her favorite books are the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling.
Elise began her career teaching 8th-12th Math and has 9 years experience in the Secondary classroom. She has worked for Porter Tutoring for even longer than that as she began with them while in college. She loves to find different ways to explain difficult math concepts and loves when students feel success! She enjoys spending time with her husband, her two beautiful daughters, and her dog named “Tini”. Her favorite book is Their Eyes Were Watching God and some of her favorite things in the world are iced mochas, traveling, and live theater!
Michelle was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. She graduated top 2% at Arlington High School. She is currently pursuing a double major in physics and mathematics at the University of Texas at Arlington. Michelle is gifted not only in academics, but also at helping students with creative ways to study and remember what they have learned! Outside of academics, she enjoys playing her piano and viola. Her favorite book is Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men.
This world traveler began her teaching career the summer of 2007 in Kigali, Rwanda teaching Algebra to expatriates in the area. Jessie has spent most of her 10 year educational career teaching high school math in Oklahoma, Colorado, and Texas. Jessie likes to spend her free time with her husband and puppy. Her favorite activities are traveling, reading, live theater, and crafting! Some of her favorite book series are: The Matched Series, The Sword of Truth Series, and The Queen’s Own series.
Vivian graduated with distinguished honors from Rockwall High School and is attending UTA for a degree in psychology and human behavior. She enjoys teaching in the children's ministry at her church and has always had a helping heart. Outside of school and work, she enjoys various musical pastimes such as playing guitar, piano, ukulele, and singing. Her favorite quote is spoken by Maya Angelou: “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
Audrey was born and raised right here in Arlington, TX. She took multiple advanced level classes in high school and was heavily involved in cheerleading, yearbook, SAGE, and sign language. Through her work with the City of Arlington, she discovered her love for children. She is currently pursuing a degree in social work from The University of Texas at Arlington. Outside of work and school, Audrey enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors in nature, and seeing music performed live. Her favorite quote by Amelia Earhart is simply, "Adventure is worthwhile in itself".
Richard is studying biology at the University of Texas at Arlington. He was born in Venezuela and raised in Arlington, Texas. He is a fluent Spanish speaker and has a passion for math and science. Outside of school, he enjoys playing his piano, violin, and guitar. His favorite book is Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pychon.
